white elephant

white elephants : fukushima daiichi reactors are transmission sound sculptures and self propagating communication systems assembled from salvaged bottles, handmade circuitry, speakers, wire, and discarded electronic remnants.
Dispersed across abandoned architectures, desert landscapes, and transitional environments, the sculptures oscillate between instrument, signal, memorial object, and message vessel. Intermittent transmissions permeate the shifting space between object and environment through interference, repetition, decay, and flux.
