coefficient decimette: room instrument

coefficient decimette is a room instrument composed of suspended resonant elements calibrated to the acoustics of a specific site. Developed and performed in collaboration with ethnomusicologist David Novak, the work was activated through improvisation, movement, and collective listening.

Participants generated temporary compositions shaped by the resonant characteristics of the room, creating a site-specific environment in which instrument, performer, and architecture became inseparable.

Conceived as a one-time event, both the installation and the compositions it produced existed only for the duration of their activation.
