white elephants sound sculpture installation

white elephants: Fukushima Daiichi reactors are transmission sound sculptures and self-propagating communication systems assembled from salvaged bottles, handmade circuitry, speakers, wire, and discarded electronics. The series began in response to the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

Placed in abandoned buildings, desert landscapes, and transitional environments, the sculptures move between instrument, signal, memorial, and message vessel. Their intermittent transmissions fill the space between object and environment through interference, repetition, decay, and flux.
